JIGOKU - A Visual Mixtape (DVD)

Readers of our very own IS IT UNCUT? will be familiar with reviewer Lovely Jon and it is our duty to point you in the direction of his other interest... mixing music and film.
Jigoku is in essence an audio visual manifestation brought to you by a team partnership now 15 years ongoing created by film buff and cinema aficionado Dj Lovely Jon & producer, remixer, recording artist Dj Cherrystones. This is a rollercoaster ride of obscure cinematic and musical rarities - presented as a highly unique visual mixtape (DVD).
Having curated off the wall and specific underground film nights (housed by such venues as the ICA, Raymond Revue Bar and Other Cinema) the DVD is a demonstration of what to expect at a Jigoku show.
Fast-paced clips and tailored psychedelic backgrounds made to keep your heart beating - a slew of highly obscure 60’s &70’s horror, giallo and popart snapshots entice the eye to go deeper and perplex the very nature of what you perceive to hear and see.
Jigoku have been pushing boundaries within these genres for many years now utilising a DIY aesthetic to create a sense of visual autonomy combined with subtle audio re- scores: now watch!

LOCKJAW - DVD COMPETITION

On 10th May 2010, in the tradition of MEGA SHARK VS. GIANT OCTOPUS, Metrodome Distribution are releasing the toothy terror flick LOCKJAW onto UK DVD. The film stars Hip-Hop Superstar DMX and a big snake!

A voodoo curse, thought buried in the mists of time, reignites the fanged horror of the infamous Kulev Serpent - the gargantuan ‘Lockjaw’.

When his wife is killed in a devastating accident by delinquent holiday-makers, distraught Alan Cade calls upon demonic forces he can barely comprehend to exact his revenge. Once summoned, Alan realises too late that this ancient evil cannot be tamed or reasoned with. It will stop at nothing and no one will be spared.

Now the only thing that stands in its way is Army Special Ops veteran and master hunter Nick Kirabo (hip hop superstar DMX – "Cradle 2 The Grave", “Never Die Alone”), who has been waiting for ‘Lockjaw’ to return.

DROPBOX... what is it?

If, like me, you are worried about backing up your important files, scared of losing that pesky USB memory stick, terrified of corrupting a CD-R… then help is at hand… with DROPBOX. It’s a brilliant device that not only backs up your work, photos, notes, reports, etc but also links and synchs everything between your PC, laptop and even iPhone! And what’s more it is totally FREE for 2GB storage! Excellent stuff indeed
You easily open a new folder marked My Dropbox on your computer (works on Macs too), then transfer your important files into it. It's then backed up online. Then you establish a My Dropbox folder on your laptop or netbook, and all your online files copy into that folder. This also happens when you install the free iPhone app (if you have one of course). Then whenever you open up a file in your My Dropbox folder on any of these devices and make a change to it, the change is backed up and all three versions of it are changed.

THE CRY OF THE OWL - DVD COMPETITION

On 19th April 2010 Metrodome Distribution are releasing the chilling thriller THE CRY OF THE OWL onto UK DVD. The film is from the writer of THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY.

Robert (Paddy Considine) leaves the big city and his ex-wife for the tranquillity of a small town where he begins to secretly watch the normal domestic life of a woman he doesn’t know through her kitchen window. But when Jenny (Julia Stiles) catches Robert in the act, she doesn’t call the police. Instead she feels a strange empathy for Robert and invites him into her home.

The fateful act sees the pair spiralling into a passionate relationship which has dire consequences when her boyfriend Greg finds out. Immediately suspicious of Robert, Greg makes it his mission to destroy him. But when Greg goes missing, Robert discovers he is the number one suspect in a murder case that is slowly beginning to look like the ultimate trap.
